We are delighted to invite applications for three paid intern posts funded by the Art Fund. These roles will support our curating, marketing and events work.
The role is one day a week, primarily on site for 6 months from 8 January – July 2024 totalling 300 hours at national minimum wage.
We are looking for young people passionate about the arts, contemplating a career in this area. The team of students will all be trained to work in audience engagement and specialise in marketing and communications, or events and fundraising, or curation, and will involve some collection of oral histories under the supervision of a specialist from the board of Trustees.

Role: Curator intern
Responsibility: New exhibitions
- Report to Trustee i/c Curation, and Collections: sharing plans, progress, and evaluating outcomes
- Work with curator to refresh, re-create and re-interpret the Collection
- Record and write up oral histories of “Friends” of Ken in line with a template -guidance From Matthew Partington, UWE
- Review existing Collection collateral and interpretation boards, recommending content and implementing
- Independently familiarise with story of Ken and the Collection
- 10th Anniversary Catalogue co-compilation illustrated website content on 10th Anniversary projects
- Multi-media approaches to interpretation: accessibility for diverse audiences
- Ensure re-interpretation fully visible online for audiences
- Co-ordinated project management approach with staff, Trustees and fellow students.
Role: Marketing Intern
Responsibility: Audience engagement
- Report to Trustee i/c marketing: sharing plans, progress, and evaluating outcomes
- Increase fund-raising through new initiatives
- Increase engagement of current, new and diverse audiences
- Increase visibility of Collection, exhibitions and events online
- Market the oral histories
- Create marketing and social media strategies and specifically for 10th Anniversary
- Review existing and create 10th Anniversary collateral
- Independently familiarise with story of Ken and the Collection
- Building, networks and media relations
- Raise the Collection’s profile and develop initiatives with local and specialist media
- Co-ordinated project management approach with staff, Trustees and fellow students.
Role: Events Intern
Responsibility: Creating and promoting
- Report to the Trustee i/c 10th Anniversary Events, Engagement and Development: sharing plans, progress, and evaluating outcomes
- Create organise and develop budgeted events, talks and fundraisers
- Independently familiarise with story of Ken and the Collection
- Work with and develop relationships with education partners
- Identify new partnerships and sponsors
- Develop the “Chocolate Tour” project and or others in entirety, with partners across the City
- Provide illustrated content for website
- Co-ordinated project management approach with staff, Trustees and fellow students.
