We simply could not do what we do without our volunteers. Our volunteers help to keep the Stradling Collection open to the public by stewarding exhibitions.
Most of our volunteers are exhibition stewards and come from all walks of life: some are artists and makers themselves, some are collectors, some just love it here at the gallery. The main thing that binds them all is a love of the Collection. Volunteers also help us with social media, supporting our learning programme, photography and care and maintenance of the Collection, though these opportunities arise far less frequently.
Would you welcome the chance to work amongst beautiful objects? Perhaps you like the idea of welcoming visitors to our lovely exhibitions? If so, then please complete the expression-of-interest form below to find out more.
If you prefer to work away from people, there are occasional opportunities to help ‘behind the scenes’. If you love cleaning (and yes, some of us do!) we’d also love to hear from you.
We won’t ask you to do more than you are comfortable with, either in terms of the tasks we assign or the time we ask of you. If you become a steward, you won’t need to talk knowledgeably about the exhibition as documentation for visitors is provided.
Please be aware that the building is on four floors without space for a lift so you will need to be able to climb stairs.
Please complete the expression-of-interest form below if you would like to find out more about becoming a volunteer.
NB This form is just to find out more and doesn’t commit you to anything!
