An Introduction to Sketching Objects

Join us for a beginner-friendly workshop focused on learning how to draw objects convincingly and expressively from observation. During this two-hour session, you’ll build skills in constructing well-proportioned drawings, capturing form, and using shadows and highlights with simple pencil techniques.

This session is ideal if you want to start sketching museum objects, everyday items, or build a sketchbook practice for visits to galleries, collections, and exhibitions. All you need is curiosity — basic materials will be provided.

About the Tutor

The workshop is led by Andy Gray, an experienced drawing tutor with over twenty years of teaching observational skills, currently running sketching and drawing courses in the UK.

Andy’s workshops focus on helping participants see more deeply, draw with confidence, and enjoy the rich experience of drawing directly from objects and real life.
