Switched On: Showcasing Mid-Century Lighting

To celebrate Bristol Light Festival, Switched On presents a dazzling pop-up exhibition of mid-century lighting that helped shape a new era of modern interiors. Bringing together iconic and experimental designs from across Britain and Scandinavia, the show features hand-built ceramic lamp bases by Marianne de Trey and Gillian Lowndes, a futuristic 1960s lamp by Robert Welsh, and Arne Jacobsen’s celebrated light created for Copenhagen’s SAS Hotel. These sit alongside innovative works by Paul Boissevain and other pioneering designers whose bold ideas captured a spirit of post-war optimism and transformed everyday lighting for the home.
