Marcel Breuer and the Bauhaus in Bristol.
The Collection holds important examples of Modernist furniture by Bauhaus designer Marcel Breuer for the Bristol manufacturer P E Gane. Crofton Gane was a passionate advocate of Modernism in the 1930s and was instrumental in introducing it to the British public. Ken has taken a strong interest in Crofton Gane, a man with a similar sense of mission in promoting good contemporary design, and has made a particular effort to collect relevant material.
