We are delighted to announce that Lucy Middleweek has been appointed Centre Manager of The Stradling Collection…
A graduate in History of Art and Visual Culture from University of Birmingham, Lucy originally joined the Collection as a volunteer in July 2024 on the completion of her undergraduate degree. She was hired as the Centre and Programming Officer in November, bringing with her experience in both visual studies and administration.
Before her promotion as Centre Manager, Lucy was a supervisor at The Watershed Cafe/Bar in Bristol, managing a team of more than 15.
Lucy now takes responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Collection, working alongside part-time curator Tanya Martin, the education and engagement team David Beech and Orla Brachi, and the Board of Trustees.

She says: “I’m thrilled to have been promoted to Centre Manager at the collection. Having grown up in South Bristol, I’ve always been passionate about the promotion and accessibility of art and design history in my home city. The Stradling Collection is an incredible resource for the city, and stepping up during such an exciting time for the Collection is a real privilege. I’m looking forward to building on the amazing work that’s already been done and helping shape its future as an open, inclusive space for creativity and learning.”.
Karen White, Chair of the Board of Trustees, said: “The Collection is entering an exciting new chapter as we increase both our opening hours and our engagement with young people through the active education programme. We have also launched a new workshop programme through the summer, working in partnership with local makers and craftspeople. Lucy is the ideal person to help take these plans forward with and we are very pleased she made the decision to join us.”
